About the Event
This session reveals the psychological foundations for unhealthy relationship building which can challenge people’s sense of safety and security in the world and compromise their identity which informs their relationship choices. Violence towards partners can be one of these outcomes. We will focus on responses and/or interventions to those reacting out of their mental health symptoms with violent behaviors. Objectives: 1) Awareness - raise awareness of trauma and relationship dynamics 2) Insight - Review bystander intervention techniques for those acting out of mental health symptoms 3) Skills – learn how to support families/friends/colleagues/neighbors with the abuser 4) Provide resources for domestic violence situations
